Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu - Fundamentals
This is our beginner class for adults where you will learn the fundamental skills of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu such as:
Defense against punches both standing and on the ground.
Take-downs from both a self-defence and pure grappling scenarios.
Achieving dominant position on the ground involving sweeps and transitions, finishing with submissions such as chokes and joint locks
We focus on one of the primary positions (Mount, Side Control, Guard, Half Guard, Turtle and Back control) for around a month before moving on.
The focus here is on skill and reflex development in a fun, safe, structured and cooperative environment. All classes begin with some jiu-jitsu based calisthenics then move on to partner drills, technique and focused positional training.
Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu - No-Gi
Keeping in line with the positional rotation in the Fundamentals program - this class will focus on No-Gi specific BJJ and wrestling techniques.
Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu - Q & A
This class is run Saturday mornings and is an avenue to address questions such as:
Fixing a problem that arose out of the Fundamentals classes.
Fixing an issue out of sparring/rolling.
Trying something they saw online that sparked their interest.
Through this process students are encouraged to develop their own expression of Jiu-Jitsu through trial and error with the assistance of an experienced coach.
Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu - Open Mat
This is a time when a formal class is not taught. Instead, under supervision, students are free to drill the techniques they have previously learned and engage in open rolling or sparring with their teammates.
It is also an important time for students develop their own style of jiu-jitsu through troubleshooting and trial and error with their coaches and training partners.
Bring your Gi and No-Gi attire here.
This class is designed for people that are interested in learning proper technical striking but do not want to be doing hard sparring with fighters. We focus heavily on the following:
Defence: Blocking, Parrying, Slipping and Rolling.
Footwork: Moving with correct stance and balance.
Striking at Full Range: Learning to punch and kick at full range.
Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu - Women's Self Defence

This class is women's only (other than the instructor) and is similar to the Fundamentals class, except techniques will be focused specifically on women's self defence.
This class focuses on using leverage and technique to resist and survive a physical assault from a physically stronger attacker.
